THE TOWERS FAMILY SAGA
EPISODE 46
The news of the blue
folder hit the city
like a lightning strike.
Minnie didn't go to
the press or the cops.
She went to James.
They sat in his small
cubicle, the folder
open between them.
"This is the end of
the Towers Board,"
James said, his eyes
wide with shock.
"It?s not just Robert.
It?s the whole system."
"That was the point,"
Minnie said, her
voice cold and firm.
"Robert wanted the
house cleaned."
James started to scan
the documents, his
fingers flying.
He was building the
digital trail that
would match the paper.
The fallout was
turning into a purge.
By the afternoon,
the first of the
resignations began.
The towers were
shaking from the
inside out this time.
Minnie watched the
stock ticker fall.
She didn't care about
the money anymore.
She cared about the
dirt at the Rim.
She cared about the
people who had
been silenced.
"It's done, James,"
she said, standing up.
"Give the folder to
the investigators."
"What about the
private lawsuits?"
"They'll have the
evidence they need.
Every single one."
She walked out into
the bright sunshine.
She felt like she
had just put down
a hundred-pound bag.
She was independent.
She was clear.
She was just Minnie.
